The Sunset led team that includes F.M. Booth, Olson Steel and Albanese has completed substantial work on the new central plant project for 2600. This project, designed by Salas O’Brian had the ambitious goal of a complete refresh of the mechanical system serving the 2 million foot property. Commencing last summer, the crews completed substantial demo including the removal of the large ice plant that once served the building and associated R-22 compressors. The crew then prepared the ice plant area in the central basement to receive three new 1,000 ton chillers and constructed the necessary shafts and pads to accommodate new cooling towers that take the place of the lake based condenser water system. Today the towers, chillers and all piping is in place in anticipation of a early January commissioning.
