Bishop Ranch’s New Electric Vehicle Charging Hub

Bishop Ranch has installed a state of the art EV charging hub at BR6 including one of the first Blink® DC Fast Charging Stations in the country. The Blink DC Fast Charger can fully charge level 3 equipped vehicles in under 20 minutes. Bishop Ranch also installed two level 2 chargers for vehicles not yet equipped to receive level 3 charges.

Bishop Ranch installed the Blink DC Fast Charger in conjunction with The EV Project, managed by ECOtality. The project will provide EV infrastructure to support the deployment of EVs in key markets. The project is a public-private partnership, funded in part by the U.S. Department of Energy through a federal stimulus grant and made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Bishop Ranch installed one central charging station for its business community to provide a backup source of charging for tenants who drive EVs. Bishop Ranch’s preference is to conserve on-peak electrical use, and thus we will not install ubiquitous chargers. The Blink Charging Station will allow drivers to top off their charge before starting their commute home if the need arises.
