Use Intercultural English,
Boost Global Communication
Thursday, February 22
Noon–1 p.m.
Bishop Ranch Conference Center
2623 Camino Ramon, Suite 175 (BR3)
FREE, includes lunch
An important precedent: People who speak English as a second language now outnumber native English speakers three to one, and trends indicate that within a decade more than 2 billion people will speak the language. Moreover, as technology and access to information continue to expand, workplaces have become more culturally diverse than ever, and English is transitioning from a culture-specific language into a crucial, intercultural communication tool.
The concept of Intercultural English involves conscious, skillful use of English to facilitate communication by avoiding culturally based expressions, such as idioms and metaphors. After all, what do phrases such as “on the same page,” “table the discussion” and “covering all the bases” mean to anyone who doesn’t share the same cultural background?
To learn about English as a tool for global communication, come to this mini training session on February 22. Space is limited. To RSVP, call Tenant Services at 543-0100. Deadline: February 20.
Seminar Presenters
Presenters for the February 15 and February 22 business-to-business seminars are Cindy Ochoa, chief trailblazer, and Lorelei Carobolante, SCRP, GPHR, chief pathfinder, of Global 2nd Language LLC. Ochoa and Carobolante specialize in employee training, cross-cultural relationship building, workplace communication and public affairs.

The Housing Bubble:
Why It Still Makes
Sense to Buy
Wednesday, February 28
Noon–1 p.m.
2623 Camino Ramon, Suite 175 (BR3)
FREE, includes light lunch
Despite the market’s ups and downs, a home is today’s No. 1 investment. Knowing key facts about real estate can help you own your dream home and leverage its financial assets — with mortgage payments that rival what you may be paying in rent.
Understanding what impacts market conditions, where interest rates are headed and how to negotiate the best deal play a critical role in a home purchase. Our lunch-and-learn seminar on Wednesday, February 28, will explore the
• tax advantages of home ownership.
• true costs of renting.
• real estate and interest rate outlook for 2007.
• facts about the housing bubble.
• top buys in a buyer’s market—and how to close the deal.
Note: This seminar is strictly informational and will be presented by Jodee Brydges of Meridian Financial, which has offices at Bishop Ranch. It is not a sales pitch.
Call Tenant Services at 543-0100 to RSVP.
Deadline: February 26.
